Michael Moore on his support for Assange

Filmaker and author Michael Moore talks with Rachel Maddow about his support for WikiLeaks' Julian Assange and the seriousness with which he takes the rape charges against Assange. My own opinion, is that the guy very-well may have been set-up. Especially, since the women who it was reported allegedly made the charges in the first place, have since come-out publically, and have seemingly indicated that they were intimidated, and co-erced, in some way. And that they did have some kind of platonic relationship with him, that was mutual. I mean, it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure-out, exactly why Assange could have possibly been set-up, and the victim of false accusations, to discredit him, in some way. And that is not to indicate myself, that I necessarily agree with some of the methods he used in obtaining certain propriatary information; As long as the information is obtained legally, in the same manner as any credible, legitimate, investigative journalist. That's all I'm sayin about this. Whatever the case may be however, I think it is very interesting stuff; In more ways then one...

WikiRebels - The Documentary (1/4)

Just want to make something clear here. I am not a proponent of hacking into "classified" information, or the like. And certainly believe that anyone who does that to commit crimes, such as in stealing personal information, like social security numbers, and the like, should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. With that said however, in doing my own research on 'WikiLeaks' (because of some of the damning information that has been exposed about some of the corruption within our own government) I now know that is definately not what they are about. (In fact, just the opposite seems to be true). This is a fascinating documentary. Check it out...

Cenk's Rant After 2010 Election Results

Cenk Uygur makes allot of compelling points in this fired-up rant. I myself have said it before and I'll say it again, in the words of Michael Moore, "until we remove money from politics, we're doomed" as a nation. We need a complete overhaul of our political system, man. It has become way too corrupt, and has set an incredibly bad example for our society, our citizens, and our children. Something has got to change, because it is really getting out of control now. Common sense has got to tell one that we can only go on so long like this before we actually implode...

Chamber of Commerce promotes outsourcing jobs

Absolutely brilliant investigative reporting from Rachel Maddow! She is just about the best there is. This video segment from her show on MSNBC is a must see. Every honest American citizen who plans to vote this fall has a right to know what is really going on behind the scenes, and who is responsible. Maddow factually reveals the history of The Chamber of Commerce advocating the business benefits of outsourcing American jobs even as they spend millions of dollars accusing Democratic candidates of doing the same!

Successful jobs programs dies after GOP block

Most of the Conservative Republicans have never made a substantive argument against the successful stimulus jobs program, but they have blocked it three times. Yoko Ono: Inspired By Iceland

#9 dream

Once again, I post this video in tribute to John Lennon, on his birthday, and now the 30th anniversary since his violent death in Dec. of 1980. He would have been 70 yrs. old today. (Oct. 9th). I will never forget the thrill of getting the Imagine album for Christmas from my mother, when I was a kid.
So videos like this, bring back so many cherised memories for me, of that time in my life. I would imagine the same would be true for John's wife, Yoko. (She is a good woman).
I would also like to include several very interesting comments from some viewers of this video post on YouTube. This is one comment posted from darrynray several weeks ago...

"Probably my favorite JL song. My morbid theory on this one is it's John's dream premonition of his assassination. I read years later that it was a record high temperature for that day and the words "Heat Whispered Trees" got me thinking. Also, supposedly Chapman called out "Mr. Lennon" as he hears someone call out his name.

Took a walk down the street
Thru the heat whispered trees
I thought I could hear (hear, hear)
Somebody call out my name as it started to rain
2 Spirits Dancing So Strange"

And here is a more recent one from a spike284...

"John was inspired to write this song because of a Dream he had, he saw Yoko and Cynthia, and they said Ah! Bawakwa Pousse Pousse to him in the dream..."

John Lennon was a brilliant, fascinating individual and artist, in more ways then one. He will never be forgotten by many. Including myself.
His music, his spirit, and his dreams, live on. God rest his soul...

Fraud Factories: Rep. Alan Grayson Explains the Foreclosure Fraud Crisis

Oh yea. This guy is great. Definately one of the best lawmakers we have in Washington today, by far. With that said, however, I do not believe that every single financial institution, that handles mortgages, foreclosures, and the like, is corrupt. (At least, I certainly hope not, or we're in big trouble). And I don't believe Alan Grayson believes that, either. I think he is just basically explaining, what in all too many cases is (unfortunately) really going-on; Not only because of the people he represents as a legislator, but maybe, as an honest and intelligent attorney, as well. That's all I am going to say about this, too...

Five Ways the Democrats Can Avoid a Catastrophe and Pull Off the Mother of All Upsets...a letter from Michael Moore

This is a recent blog post from Michael Moore's website, that I received in e-mail form. I have been a big fan of his for quite some time now, and thought what he wrote in this particular blog post is absolutely brilliant, insightful, powerful, and important enough to want to share it here on my own blog, in its entirety. It is good stuff, and I hope you get something from it, yourself...

Five Ways the Democrats Can Avoid a Catastrophe and Pull Off the Mother of All Upsets

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Friends,
The election is one month from tomorrow and, yes, it looks hopeless. November 2nd -- the day the Dems are expected to crash and burn.
Sadly, it's a situation the Democrats have brought upon themselves -- even though the majority of them didn't create the mess we're in. But they've had over a year and a half to start getting the job done to fix it. Instead, they've run scared ever since they took power. To many, the shellacking they're about to receive is one they deserve.
But if you're of a mindset that believes a return to 2001-2008 would be sheer insanity, then you probably agree we've got no choice but to save the Democrats from themselves.

Memo To: President Obama and the Democratic Party Leadership
From: Michael Moore
Subject: 5 Things Dems Can Do to Turn It Around by November 2nd

1. Immediate Wall-to-Wall TV Ads, Internet Videos, and Appearances Hammering Who the Hell Put Us in the Misery We're In.
We Americans have very short attention spans (Quick: Who Won the Oscar for Best Picture last year? The World Series? Exactly.). People need to be reminded over and over that it was the REPUBLICANS who concocted and led the unnecessary invasion of two countries, putting us in our longest war ever, wars that will eventually cost us over $3 trillion. Bush and Co. also caused the biggest collapse of our economy since the Great Depression. I don't know a single person in Hollywood who wouldn't shoot and produce those spots for you for FREE. Dems: Do not pull a single punch on this. Quit being a bunch of wusses and let the bastards have it! The public will be astonished that you've found your courage and your spine. We expect you to be Muhammad Ali, not Ally McBeal.

2. Indict the Criminals.
Announce that the Justice Department will seek indictments against both those who caused the economic collapse and those who became war profiteers. Call it for what it is: organized crime. Use the RICO statutes. Use the basic laws that make fraud of any kind a crime. Get in the face of those who stole the billions, make them pay for it -- and the people will love you. We want Dirty Harry, not Dirty Dancing.

3. Announce a Moratorium on All Family Home Foreclosures.
Last month (August) there were more home foreclosures than in any month in U.S. history. Worse than any month in the worst year ever, 2009. The bleeding hasn't stopped -- it's only gotten worse. And now, this week, two of the largest crime organizations who are throwing hundreds of thousands of people out of their homes have been forced to momentarily stop doing this. It turns out, they don't really have the paperwork to prove they actually own these houses! It's madness. So if you do one thing for the middle class this week, do this. It will take an hour of your time to draw up the decree and issue it. We'd rather watch "It's a Wonderful Life" than "Poltergeist."

4. Announce a New 21st Century WPA.
"Who's hiring? THE GOVERNMENT IS HIRING!" Put together a simple plan to hire enough people to repair our roads, fix up our aging schools, and rebuild our infrastructure. Fund this by taxing the richest 1% who have more financial wealth than 95% of Americans combined! Unemployment will drop to 5%. Can you pass it? Well, you sure can't unless you try! And as you're trying, announce that you will force the Republican senators (who until now simply have had to say they "intended" to filibuster in order to kill a bill) to have to actually filibuster! Make them stand on the floor of the Senate and read from the phone book 24/7. They won't last a day. And America will see them for who they really are.

5. Declare That No Democrat Will Accept ANY Wall Street Money in the Next Election Cycle.
Pick a day in the coming week. Have all your fellow Democrats in Congress stand in front of the Capitol (with President Obama) and pledge that if America allows you to retain control of Congress, none of you will take a penny from Wall Street for the 2012 election. Instead, promise to accept donations of only $2, $5 and $10. You will also pledge not to take a job as a lobbyist or lawyer for ANY corporation for ten years after you leave Congress. The message will be a powerful one to the average American fed up with corrupt political hacks. Act like Honest Abe, not Fast Freddie -- and see what happens.

And here are two bonus suggestions: Use what sense of humor you have and go after these candidates and their agenda with all the hilarious ridicule they deserve. And quit complaining about "the base" not doing enough to help you. You want help? Do something this week to earn it. I've offered five suggestions. I'm sure the rest of "the base" has a few more.

Yours,
Michael Moore

Stop outsourcing jobs!

High-paying manufacturing jobs is what raises a country's standard of living, and GDP. (Just look at China). We all can't be selling insurance to one another, or base our economy on just low-paying retail, fast food, service, or military jobs, because eventually even those jobs will dry up, when no one has the purchasing power to afford to buy a new home, mortgage, car payments, etc. Manufacturing employment is what made America the iindustrial power it once was, back in the 50's and 60's for example;
When we were exporting more goods then we were importing. Now, it is quite a different story however, where we currently have the largest trade and budget deficit in our history; Much of it caused by outsourcing, and manufacturing jobs going overseas. There are some good people in congress who want to change that. And some bad one's, who want to block their efforts...

Ships by Barry Manilow

Not to get too sentimental or morbid, or anything. But I post this video, and share this beautiful tune, in memory (and in honour) of my father Richard; Who, (to the best of my knowledge) passed-away on this day (Sept. 28th) all those years ago, when I was still a kid. He was a really good man, and someone I will never forget. This song sort of reminds me of those times when he used to take me to the docks, by the water, back when we used to live in the Bronx, and when I was still very young. "Like two shps that pass in the night", he was here and then he was gone. But maybe, our loved one's who have passed, are really somehow "still here, but just out of sight", as the song goes. There are many wise, intuitive, and insightful people who do believe that, for more reasons then one...

9/11 CONSPIRACY: BUSH-NAZI CRIME FAMILY HISTORY

And just to finally bring home the point made in the previous video blogs, in reference to right-wing, militant, Christian Fundamentalism and its relation to C-Street and 'The Family' for instance, (which is a very provocative and revealing book by Jeff Sharlet) and their political supporters; And in the month of the anniversary of 9/11, I post this piece of brilliant investigative reporting. It is an absolutely fascinating video, comparing the Hitler regime's Reichstag fire and subsequent invasion of Poland, with the events of  9/11/2001 and the unprovoked invasion of Iraq. Need I say more?

Waiting For Armageddon Trailer

"World War III has started!" Is what one of the crazy evangelicals in this trailer yells-out. Oh yeah. Sort of says it all, doesn't it?

Review - Waiting For Armageddon, Scary Documentary

Here is yet another video in this series of (what I strongly believe anyway) are some very disturbing and dangerous views, within right-wing militant Christian Fundamentalism, and it's (unprecedented) political influence on many of our radical conservative politcians...

Large RW Christian Group Plans Government Takeover & More w/ Talk2action...

This is related to the previous video post regarding right-wing, Christian Fundamentalism, and its political ties...
For whatever it's worth, (without invading one's civil rights and  privacy, of course), I personally believe, that many in the Tea Party, and related Christian militant, right-wing movements, are extremely dangerous, and should be watched by Federal law enforcement; Just from some of the things they have said and done, so far. Especially, those who carry weapons to rallys, presidential appearences at town hall meetings, etc. But, that of course, is just my opinion...

City Room: Watching 'Serpico' With Serpico

One of my favorite people of all time! Frank Serpico. Big time hero of mine. If we had more individuals like him in law enforcement, and publicly promoted more people like him as what a real-life role model should be (rather then The Sorpranos, for example) this would be an entirely different country...

This is a trailer from the actual movie of the real life character, 'Serpico'; Played by Al Pacino. I love the comment from one of the YouTube viewers, that I think says allot: "Who knew that being honest could be so rebellious"! Right-on...

Echoes of a Shofar

I post this in honour of Yom Kippur, which falls on Sept. 18th this year. Shared by a friend on facebook by the name of Alon...

Cops on Camera

Inadvertantly came across this video from the Institute for Justice facebook page. I totally agree. The law should never be one-sided. A public official, especially someone in law-enforcement has the mandated obligation to do the right thing, on behalf of the people they serve. That is why we have the motto: "to serve and to protect". When they lose sight of that, and that motto is even despised, it becomes a problem for every honest, law-abiding citizen (and every honest cop for that matter), and an injustice. And also gives the bad guys an advantage. Note: Turned-out to be a follow-up to several previous related posts...

Manny Badillo at the 9/11/2010 Memorial Ceremony

This video is from the 'BuildingWhat' YouTube channel. BuildingWhat.org, along with NYC CAN are related organizations (from what I understand) founded by the families of the victims of the tragedy and crime that took place on Sept. 11th, 2001; And who are seeking answers, justice, and the truth regarding what really happened on that terrible day...

New 9/11 photos 'prove WTC exploded from inside'

Still many more questions then answers, nine years later, no less! The 'False Flag' operation thing, if true, is particularly disturbing; And may very well be at least part of what was going on here. Everybody else, either directly or indirectly involved (and who had foreknowledge of the coming catastrophe) basically just drank the kool-aid, jumped on the band-wagon, and took advantage of a very bad situation, for their own gain; So it would seem...

Generals Push To Stay In Afghanistan

Surprise! Lives lost, innocent people killed, unaccounted for billions of dollars flushed down the toilet, and whether or not it is a legitimate war, or whether or not they have a clear mission there doesn't really matter. Because, (no matter how they spin it or what they tell you), it's "always all about the money." (It would seem). So, I guess, it's like: let the propaganda (and insanity) continue; while our country and its people languish, and our nation's debt continues to spiral out of control! We have to change our paradigm, man. I mean, eventually it becomes like a 'bad karma', that sort of effects us all in someway, when you really think about it. I'm just too honest, I guess...

Health Insurance Co Pres. Fired - Why?

Here we go! This is why we at least needed a Public Option, that most people from the radical-right (many armed with guns strapped to their waist and tea bags hanging from their heads) were screaming against, threatening to lynch the politicians who fought for it, at those town hall meetings; And complaining that National/Universal Health Care would be socialised medicine, that nobody should want. And that they did not want the government to mess with their health care. Remember that? Now, that they have seemed to get what they said they wanted, everybody's health insurance rates (including their own) are inevitably going to continue to go-up! Note: With all these things said, I still think there are some good things in the Health Care Reform bill that was just recently signed into law. Such as the fact that health insurance companies will no longer be able to deny people coverage on the basis of pre-existing conditions, etc. But on the down side, this law and provision really doesn't go into effect until something like 2014! If more Progressive Democrats retain their seats, increase in numbers, and have their way, I am somewhat hopeful myself however, that they may very well try to improve on this first step towards real reform, that I believe at least some of them (who are sincere individuals, like Alan Grayson and Dennis Kucinich) had to bite the bullet on...
